A 175A grey Anderson connector and 35mm² cable comfortably out-spec the roughly 30A continuous (50A peak) that tail lift charging circuits actually draw, per European Tail Lift Manufacturers' Association guidance. So the lead itself is rarely the limiting factor.
How the power is wired varies by vehicle: some lifts run direct off the main vehicle battery, while trailer-mounted lifts often carry their own auxiliary battery, kept topped up via a split-charge relay, alternator feed, or dedicated charger. Your Anderson-to-Anderson lead recharges that auxiliary battery when connected, rather than powering the lift motor directly.
The real risk is battery drain, not cable capacity — heavy lift use on a direct-wired setup can flatten your starter battery. Before ordering, check: which setup you have, that both plug ends match in size and colour (175A grey is standard; some smaller electric lifts use 50A grey instead), and that polarity is correct if you're using the ring-terminal end — we always wire red to positive and black to negative, but not every supplier does, so check before connecting. If your battery's struggling to hold charge, that's a job for a qualified auto-electrician, not something the cable spec alone will tell you.
